I remember a few years ago, a friend and I were riding in his car together, when we began to debate over the song Layla, by Eric Clapton. My friend said that he likes the faster version better, because it sounds more real. More desperate. The singer is screaming for Layla, pleading and pouring his very heart out… I disagreed. I feel that the slower version sounds much more desperate and seeking. The singer is so tired of Layla’s game, he’s in defeat, and showing it.
I thought that this would be an interesting thing to hear from others about. So, I’m sure you all have heard of Eric Clapton, and his brilliant. If not, you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity in viewing the two videos below. Same songs. Same lyrics. But I want you to think about which song to you, has more emotion out of the two and why. Obviously there is no wrong answer, rather than just a way of interpreting music. I am more than eager to see your responces.
