Welcome once again to A.J.Beatty’s Virtual Café! Hope you all have you’re yummy coffee handy!

While trying to research some fun facts for this morning’s blog, I learned some very interesting things about everyone’s favorite morning beverage. Here are only a few facts about coffee, and how it has become so popular today. Enjoy…

*The American Heritage Dictionary defines coffee as any of various tropical African shrubs or trees of the genus Coffea, especially C. arabica, widely cultivated in the tropics for their seeds that are dried, roasted, and ground to prepare a stimulating aromatic drink. The beanlike seeds of this plant, enclosed within a pulpy fruit. The beverage prepared from the seeds of this plant.

Coffee Plant

* Goats actually discovered the coffee plant. Their shepherd noticed that they were getting very hyper; therefore, one day, he followed their every move, and found one that they were eating a strange berry that was keeping them awake all day and night.

Baaah!

* The popular trend towards flavored coffees originated in the United States during the 1970’s.

Mmm!

Now go out there, and make use of all that sugar and caffeine in your system!

Hello Readers! I’m sure that the both of you have been wondering where the heck I’ve been. I’ll use the excuse that I just wanted to fit in with all the others cool writers and go on strike…No not really…I’ve actually been very very busy with work, and my studies for school. And let’s not forget squeezing in time for crafting and gaming!
I’ve realized in English today that it might be a smart idea to ask off for an additional day off at work, and use that day for additional studying, an well as dedicating myself to errands around home. But then on the other hand, I was looking for jokes today to post, and found this interesting little peice of information about anyone wanting a day off. Hope you like it!

So You Want A Day Off…

So you want a day off? Let’s take a look at what you are asking for!

There are 365 days this year.

There are 52 weeks per year in which you already have 2 days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work.

Since you spend 16 hours each day away from work, you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available.

You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break. That accounts for 23 days each year, leaving only 68 days available.

With a one hour lunch period each day, you have used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work.

You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave. This leaves you only 20 days available for work.

We are off for 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days.

We generously give you 14 days vacation per year which leaves only one day available for work and I’ll be damned if you’re going to take that day off!

I hate Mondays!

Have A Great Day!!!

Good Morning!!! February 7, 2008

I don’t know about you all, but when I wake up in the morning, I don’t even want to look in the mirror. I can feel my hair disobeying the laws of gravity. And my expression usually looks like Albert Einstien has just asked me the ultimate math question of all time. Thankfully, I’m so clueless when I wake up that I cannot even see my reflection when I first turn to a mirror until I allow my body to wake up a little more. One thing I do before my “morning blur” fades away, is re-pull my hair back into a somewhat decent pony-tail. If not for the little morning preperations like this, I would probably relate more than desired to this video that I’m sure you all are about to find very amusing.

Have a nice day!

      Layla VS Layla February 2, 2008

      Filed under: Music Videos — Chelsea @ 5:44 am

      I remember a few years ago, a friend and I were riding in his car together, when we began to debate over the song Layla, by Eric Clapton. My friend said that he likes the faster version better, because it sounds more real. More desperate. The singer is screaming for Layla, pleading and pouring his very heart out… I disagreed. I feel that the slower version sounds much more desperate and seeking. The singer is so tired of Layla’s game, he’s in defeat, and showing it.

      I thought that this would be an interesting thing to hear from others about. So, I’m sure you all have heard of Eric Clapton, and his brilliant. If not, you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity in viewing the two videos below. Same songs. Same lyrics. But I want you to think about which song to you, has more emotion out of the two and why. Obviously there is no wrong answer, rather than just a way of interpreting music. I am more than eager to see your responces.

      Happy Birthday Rachel! February 1, 2008

      Filed under: Jokes — Chelsea @ 12:48 am

      In Honor of my older sister’s birthday, I think it is nessecary to post a joke that relates to none other than….Horses!

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience. She mounts the horse unassisted and the horse immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse’s mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse’s neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway. The horse gallops along, seemingly impervious to its slipping rider. Finally, giving up her frail grip, she leaps away from the horse to try and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot has become entangled in the stirrup, she is now at the mercy of the horse’s pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over. As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune… the Walmart manager sees her and shuts the horse off.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      A city dweller came to a farm and saw a beautiful horse. He decided he had to have the animal. He bargained with the farmer and the farmer finially sold him the horse. The city man jumped on the horse and said, “Giddyup!” The horse didn’t budge. The farmer explained, “This is a special kind of horse. He’ll only move if you say, ‘Praise the Lord.’ To stop him, you have to say, ‘Amen.’” Keeping this in mind, the new owner yelled, “Praise the Lord!” whereupon the horse took off with great speed. Soon horse and rider were headed for a cliff. Just in time the rider remembered to say “Amen!” The horse came to a screeching halt right at the edge of the cliff. Relieved, the rider raised his eyes to heaven and exclaimed, “Praise the Lord!”

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      A man has a racehorse, never won a race. Man in disgust says,” Horse, you win today or you pull a milk wagon tomorrow morning.” The starting gate opens, the horses take-off, they move the gate away and there lays his horse asleep on the track. He kicks the horse and asks, “WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING. The horse, half asleep says, “I have to get up at three in the morning.”
      Happy Birthday Rachel!
      “Happy Birthday, Rachel!”
